What Makes Good Art?
Good art can come in a plethora of forms. Famous statues, paintings, sculptures, photographs, etc. all can qualify as good art. But what are the qualities that each successful piece of art has? The piece must be unique. Good art is original and creative. It should have a sort of purpose; a toilet signed by someone is NOT purposeful art, contrary to some beliefs. Good art to me should also give you some time of nostalgia or feeling that it has impacted you or is important to you. The Mona Lisa, for example, is "good" or successful because it makes people feel like it is staring back at them, even though it is paint on a canvas.

Nature Photography: John Shaw
Lenticular clouds at dawn, Los Glaciares National Park, Argentina
I enjoy this photo firstly because of the color. The pink of the sky reflects onto the mountains, making them seem almost heavenly. The mix of the blue, pink and purples mix well together. I also love the mountains because it reminds me of ski trips and adventuring. Looking at this photo gives me a sense of serenity. To me, the strongpoints of this photo are color, composition, and story.
